Hello, my name is Yugma Patel...

I am an undergraduate student at the University of Pittsburgh studying bioengineering on the cellular track with a minor in chemistry. I am simultaneously pursuing my Masters in Medical Product Engineering.
I have always possessed an interest in biology and medicine, specifically in the crossroads that bring us our next groundbreaking therapy or treatment. I wanted to be working hands-on, finding the next life-saving treatment for breast cancer or developing the next vaccine for a global pandemic. However, I had always overlooked a key field that linked innovation and medicine: engineering.

Through my first year at college, I fell in love with the discipline of engineering. It was funny because until I decided to transfer into the program the summer before my freshman year, I had barely given engineering a second thought. Now, here I was - intrigued by the interdisciplinary nature of engineering that yielded great potential for innovation.
